St James’s Palace has confirmed that the couple will spend the day “privately
with the Middleton family” at their home in Bucklebury, Berks.
It means Prince William and his wife, will not join the Queen and members of
the Royal family at the traditional Christmas gathering at Sandringham,
Norfolk.
Royal sources said that the couple’s decision to spend Christmas with the
Middletons was taken “with the approval of the Queen and the Duke of
Edinburgh”.
The Duchess, who is expecting her first child, spent three nights in hospital
earlier this month for severe morning sickness.
She is understood to be continuing to recover, but is believed to have wished
to spend her final Christmas before motherhood with her own family.
